Event Report : FAD KL 2011
On 10th September 2011, Fedora Malaysia organized our first barcamp style FUDCon. Hosted at UCTI/APIIT, we managed to get 65 registrants, however only 28 attendees turn up during the day.
The event opened doors on 9:00, and the first session started on 11:00, with an introductory session led Izhar Firdaus (KageSenshi) , where our sponsors, UCTI/APIIT, Abyres, and Red Hat are given some time to pitch about their companies and about FOSS. Those who are going to hold a session were also given 2 minutes time to pitch about their talks.
We manage to hold 5 talk sessions (Research paper writing in Fedora, Fedora cloud and virtualization initiative, Making the plunge from proprietary to FOSS, GNOME3 shell extensions, and Mozilla in Fedora), 1 workshop session (Composing your next music hit album on Fedora), and 2 discussion sessions (Team activity for fun & profit, Fedora Malaysia : Moving forward). The day ended at around 5:30pm.
We will be doing another FAD early next year, hopefully around either January or February, so those who are in Malaysia during those months, keep an eye for our announcements later.
